ITBAYAT ISLAND

Most of you who follow me on Facebook and Instagram know that I’ve been to Batanes twice already (Personal Expense) before this most current trip – which is in collaboration with BISUMI. That’s why I put this at the end of this article to avoid misrepresentation.

Lake Kavaywan, Itbayat

Itbayat is the northernmost inhabited Island of Batanes, and also the biggest of the three (Batan, Sabtang & Itbayat) islands. You have two ways of going here: Faluwa, or Plane. If you are sea-sick, you might want to consider hopping on a plane because the waters the Faluwa will cross will give you motion sickness (at times, to the extreme level) but if you’re up for an adventure – aren’t we all? =), travel like the locals and like me on board a faluwa. I was actually lucky the time I went there, the sea was somehow calm.

Travel time to Itbayat via Faluwa is around 4-5 hours depending on sea condition. My trip was around 4 hours only because the sea was quite calm. Fare is ₱450 per person per way. You can check the updated trip schedule at Basco Port once there.

Torongan Cave, Itbayat
Did you know? Itbayat Island is one of the world’s largest uplifted coral reefs.
Pagganaman Port, Itbayat

I wasn’t able to post any article about my second trip, which was purposely for ITBAYAT, so here’s a travel video:

Bisumi also provides tour packages in Itbayat for as low as ₱3,500 per person. Contact them for more information.
