Where to eat

1. Pension Ivatan

Meal: “Taste of Batanes” (grilled pork-chop, pork ear cartilages, beef tapa, ceviche, fern salad, and soup) there’s something for everyone! and in our case, all of these for my Mom and me.

2. Vunung Dinette

Vunong Dinette serves authentic Ivatan cuisine to all guests. “Vunong” is a traditional Ivatan meal (turmeric rice, luñiz, beef steak, fish steak) wrapped in thick kabaya (breadfruit) leaves. A visit in Batanes wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Vunong Dinette. By reservations only!

Each vunong is served in a basket, which comes with unlimited turmeric rice and soup! I actually instantly became a fan of turmeric rice (my first time to try it) as it is both healthy and filling!

3. Casa Napoli

Casa Napoli is an Italian restaurant in Batanes who serves not just good, but great pizza! The place is actually a house converted to a pizza place. I can say that the pizza here is better than most known pizza brands in Manila. But wait, why is there a cake in front of me?

That’s right! I celebrated my 2 _ th birthday in Batanes, for the second consecutive time! Thank you Bisumi Travel and Tours for the special birthday cake! and thank you Mom for the Pizza treat!

Cheers! (that’s apple juice)

4. Café du Tukon

Café du Tukon is Fundacion Pacita’s farm-to-table restaurant, just a few steps away from the main building. Serving only the freshest catch and produce that their neighbor fish folk and farms have in season, Café du Tukon will surely make you smile with their good food and great service.
